Public Astronomical Tours on the Königstuhl

Are you interested in the astronomical facilities on the Königstuhl and would like to find out more about our research?

The three astronomical institutions on the Königstuhl, HdA, MPIA and Landessternwarte (LSW), offer joint guided tours. To give you an insight into the research work on the Heidelberg Königstuhl, we regularly offer public guided tours of the campus of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy.

Please note that this event will be held in German. If you are interested in an English Astronomical Königstuhl tour, please use our group offers.

The guided tours are led by doctoral and master's students from the MPIA, who can give a lively impression of the research activities.

We usually start in the Klaus Tschira Auditorium of the HdA. There we give an insight into current research projects. This is followed by a short demonstration in the digital planetarium of the House of Astronomy. During the tour, we will show you exhibits relating to research at the institutes on the Königstuhl. The historical telescopes of the State Observatory can also be viewed on request as part of the tour.

Duration of the guided tours: approx. one and three-quarter hours.

The guided tours are part of the public relations work of the Max Planck Society and the Centre for Astronomy at Heidelberg University and cost 6.00 euros per person.

Our event calendar gives you an overview of the dates of all upcoming events at the House of Astronomy and the opportunity to purchase tickets.
