Explore Science
Since 2006, the Klaus Tschira Foundation has been organizing the annual EXPLORE SCIENCE event in Luisenpark, Mannheim. Held over five days and with a different theme every year, it offers pre-school and school-age children, families and science lovers the opportunity to take part in a range of hands-on activities, workshops, stage shows, experimental lectures and competitions. The overarching idea is exploring, experimenting, trying things out and discovering. It’s an event that attracts tens of thousands of visitors young and old every year.
Since 2010, the Haus der Astronomie and the Astronomieschule e.V. have jointly run a stand offering hands-on activities aimed at primary school children. Additionally, the Haus der Astronomie runs a stand for high school pupils with various hands-on experiments and usually an observing station.
For the astronomy-themed Explore Science 2018, the Haus der Astronomie and the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy partnered to develop the interactive exhibition “Astronomy for all”.
