Call for hosting the Second Shaw-IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education

The IAU Office of Astronomy for Education is soliciting proposals for institutions interested in hosting the 2020 Shaw -IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education.

The 2020 Shaw-IAU Workshop is a meeting, 3 to 5 days in duration, for 40-60 astronomers who are actively contributing to astronomy education, astronomy educators and teachers of astronomy, aimed at furthering the exchange of knowledge within the community and fostering the OAE mission to support the use of astronomy as a stimulus for STEM teaching and education, and the professionalization of astronomy education from elementary to high-school level, world-wide.

Each Shaw-IAU Workshop has a main topic in astronomy education that is determined by the Workshop’s scientific organizing committee (SOC) in consultation with the OAE and the OAE steering committee. It also includes contributed presentations that highlight issues and activities pertinent to the region where the workshop is held.  Workshop participants should be selected to include international experts and members of the regional astronomy education community, with attention paid to diversity (geographic, demographic, expertise).
