"A real gem among all teacher trainings" - "My scientific highlight of the year"

November 25, 2019

From 14 to 16 November 2019, our 7th nationwide WE-Heraeus teacher training course on astronomy took place at the HdA - three days filled with scientific lectures, workshops on teaching practice and many opportunities for exchange.

Our nationwide teacher training on astronomy funded by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Stiftung took place already for the 7th time this year. 99 participants from all over Germany and parts of Austria came together to learn about the latest research in astronomy and planetary science, to meet with scientists and exchange ideas about classroom materials, and to present their own projects.

The three days of the teacher training begin with high-level lectures, this year on space weather, the solar system missions BepiColombo, Mars InSight and MASCOT, on the Milky Way and on the observatories IceCube and ELT. The participants themselves contribute to the the afternoon sessions where short lectures, workshops and informal meetings take place in parallel. HdA's partner school network also meets within the framework of this teacher training.

Next year, the teacher training will take place from 5 to 7 November 2020.
